Fraser Island 1
Spinning with small metals and poppers for small pelagic can be a blast on light tackle, on the western side of Fraser, there are many spots to cast and try your luck as the tide races around many small headlands. Fish love hunting bait in these areas, all you need is a light Shimano outfit spooled with 6kg and small surface Popper and metal lures, cast and work the fast water as it races around the corners in these spots, bait will hold just out of the run in eddies so these are hot spots to cast.
Fishing with soft plastics along the sandy drop offs is a great spot to target the humble dusky Flathead as they lie and wait for small bait fish and prawns to swim past. If fishing from a boat just sit in say 5metres of water and cast to the shallow water working your lure back to the boat and moving along the edges as you fish, shore based just spend the afternoon walking along, casting soft plastics and working the edges on the last of the dropping tide, small hard bodied lures are also great for this as flathead love feeding on mullet in these areas.
